New research from the University of Helsinki found that listening to music soon after a stroke improved patients’ mood, memory, and focus. The study participants listened to tunes—including pop, jazz, folk, and classical—for two hours a day during the acute post-stroke stage, when the brain can undergo dramatic changes that can be enhanced by environmental stimulation.
