Calling All Clean Companies!

Do you make a fabulous, all-natural personal care product you feel is the best in the biz? Let us be the judge! Our third annual Beauty With a Conscience Awards, slated for the October 2010 issue of Natural Solutions, will be upon us in no time. We’ll begin accepting submissions March 15, 2010, but it’s never too early to start thinking ahead. Here’s a look at the basic submission steps to help you prepare for our next round of awards:

1. Come clean. Crafting toxin-free personal care is not easy. If it were, every company would shun the bad stuff (we hope!). Know your ingredients; know what we won’t accept. The big ones like parabens and perfumes are of course unallowable, but there are hundreds of other, oftentimes lesser-known ingredients that don’t meet our standards. 2. Introduce yourself. Is there an awesome natural ingredient that only your company uses? Have you figured out a formula that works wonders on skin? Do you donate proceeds to the community that sources your ingredients? Along with your submissions, we’ll ask you for a brief testimonial about what makes your company and products stand out.

3. Name your category. While we likely won’t mistake mascara for sunscreen or slather foot cream on our faces, many products have multiple uses, and lines between categories can be blurry. We want to make sure to test your product for the category it’s intended for, so make sure to designate a category for each submission. Categories are subject to change, and we’ll send out a formal, more final list closer to the submission. But here’s the gist:
